What is the Ignite Program?
A specialised accelerated learning program offered by South Australian public schools that compresses Years 8 to 10 into two years, allowing students to begin senior secondary work earlier. Three Adelaide-area government schools deliver Ignite.
Who can sit the Ignite test?
Year 7 students applying for Year 8 entry the following year. Exceptional Year 6 students may also be considered. The test is held annually in February.
How competitive is the Ignite test?
Approximately 200 Year 8 places are offered each year, with hundreds of applicants. The four-part test is in ACER's HAST format, followed by an interview for shortlisted candidates.
